SIS 10485 Vision+ SNOMED Early Release (England only)
In 2018, the NHS started moving to using SNOMED CT as the clinical coding system across all care settings.
From SIS 10485, SNOMED CT is the primary coding system in Vision+ for practices in England. For practices in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales you continue to record data using Read terms, but in the background, the data maps to a SNOMED CT term.
Note - All historical Read coded data maps to SNOMED CT terms and the way you record data in Vision 3 has not changed.
For practices in England, the only areas that require reviewing are practice defined templates that you have created in Vision+ Template Designer as they now use SNOMED CT terms. You should also update any SMS questionnaires to include SNOMED CT terms.
For more information on the switchover and the other changes in SIS 10485 - click here.
All other Vision+ areas are fully SNOMED CT compliant for practices in England.
Instead of viewing Read, SNOMED CT terms display in the following areas:
- Alert popups
- Templates
- Calculators
- Template Designer
- Practice Reports
