October 2021

Coronavirus Update - England only (1st October 2021)

Maintenance/Booster Dose

On successful completion of Early Live Service, from 11th October we will be importing maintenance/booster dose COVID vaccination data and writing this direct to the patient's record in line with NHS Digital's request and recent guidance published by the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI), see JCVI issues updated advice on COVID-19 booster vaccination.

Patients receiving a maintenance/booster dose have immunisation data and a medical history entry automatically added to their patient record, for example:

  • Immunisation Entry of '65F0100 Administration of first dose of SARS-CoV-2 vaccine':
    Booster_65F0100-1
  • Medical History Entry of '65F0800 Immunisation course to maintain protection against SARS-CoV-2':
    65F0800

Important - This excludes Moderna Half Dose at present, this data will be sent by NHS Digital once this process has been approved.

For more information on the automatic import of COVID vaccination data, see Automatic Import of COVID Vaccination Data (England only).

Third Dose Immunosuppressed Vaccination Guidance

Important - While all systems are being updated to include a third dose vaccination, NHS Digital have taken the decision to record these as a maintenance/booster dose. The same process, outlined above, is used for recording a third dose of the vaccine for Immunosuppressed patients. We are awaiting further information from NHS Digital with regards to any future changes. See JCVI issues advice on third dose vaccination for severely immunosuppressed for more information.
