Changes to Human Papilloma Virus Immunisations

A new Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccine, Gardasil 9, replaces the existing Gardasil vaccine, from early 2022.

The new vaccine replaces the current vaccine across the whole HPV programme and is due to be rolled out once supplies of the existing Gardasil vaccine are exhausted. This may result in a short period where both vaccinations are in use.

As before, the vaccine has a two dose schedule, or three for those over 15 years of age.

Gardasil 9 shares the same clinical codes as the existing HPV Gardasil product:

  • Stage 1 -  65FS.00 First human papillomavirus vaccination.
  • Stage 2 - 65FT.00 Second human papillomavirus vaccination.
  • Stage 3 - 65FV.00 Third human papillomavirus vaccination.

The existing HPV vaccinations are renamed as part of this release:
